May 11, 1974 — Tahsis was a logging town on the west coast of Vancouver Island which until June of 1974 was without a liquor store. For twenty years Slim Beale made a living buying booze in Zeballos, an hours run up the inlet in his old crew boat the Chamis Queen, and bringing it back to the people in Tahsis. The pictures here are from his last run before a BC government liquor store opened in Tahsis.
