August 16th, 1970 — The first couple of years I lived in Edmonton everything was closed on Sunday. Everything included theaters, the library, restaurants, and gas stations except for two chosen in some random fashion one on the north side of the city and one on the south side with their locations and hours advertised in the Edmonton Journal every Saturday so that residents could find them. All this is to illustrate that Edmonton was a very religious city so when evangelicals such as the Rev. Don Moore arrived in town literally pitching his tent in an empty lot to hold services there was a ready audience.
