December 1970 — When Arthur Fiedler of the Boston Pops came to Edmonton to conduct the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra I was assigned to photograph him conducting. I waited until Fiedler was about to start a noisy piece before crawling down an aisle right next to him to take my pictures. The camera I was using at the time was very quiet but he heard the first release of the shutter. Because of the darkness behind him it took about four frames before he found where the noise was coming from. He was not amused and the look he gave me was such I suspected a baton could be a lethal weapon and probably no jury in the world would convict him. I left, very quickly.
