1983 — The 1983 supercross race at BC Place was possibly the last appearance for Maico at a major race. The rider was Eric Eaton from Tacoma. I had one of these 250 Spyders and it was a great motorcycle to ride — mine was one of the few made that year without sabotaged parts — but it was crudely put together compared to Japanese bikes. #092
I was at this race. I might be wrong but if I remember correctly Eaton was dicing with Phil Larson for the main event lead when he crashed off track. This Maico he’s riding has some trick wheelsmith aftermarket parts on it, real nice machine. By the way John I remember you riding your Maico out at iona around 83/84. I’m really enjoying these great old photos.
