June 14th, 1973 — There’s a lot of talk about how bad the traffic jams have become in downtown Vancouver. The blame is usually put to lane closures for cyclists and their bicycle lanes as if in the past before two wheelers became popular there was no congestion. This picture from 1973, which was just an ordinary day at rush hour when cars leaving Stanley Park were allowed to turn right onto Chilco Street, should put the lie to that argument.
