July 17th, 1977 — Ralph Oakes slides his twin Mac powered kart on the downhill corner before Whitehead during a Gold Cup race at the Westwood sprint track. Ralph’s family was one of the founding members of the WKA and he was a three time president of the club. Ralph finished second in the race.
